Merry Christmas to you, our clients and friends! Every year we look back and realize how blessed we are to have the clients we do and to do the work we do.
We’ve been blessed and we feel called to use it for good. So early this year Debra and I decided that going forward we would freeze our salaries and commit 50% of our profits, after business expenses, to giving to worthy charitable causes. The other 50% will go to cash reserves for future business needs.
This wasn’t an easy decision for us. Even though we lived simply as missionaries for many years when we were young, in recent years we’ve gotten kind of “comfortable” in the area of our finances… thankful to enjoy the blessings we’ve received, always tithing 10%… but rarely challenging ourselves to consider what God could do with our increased giving. We’d like to sock away more for retirement. But we could cut personal expenses to do it, right? So, with some trepidation, anxiety, soul searching and prayer, we decided to step out in faith. We’re excited about this new adventure!
What’s been the result? It’s been a good year in the markets and we’ve added more clients this year than in several years past. And this has enabled us to give considerably more than in past years. So, we say a big “Thank You” to you for helping us give over $29,000 to many good works this year – including Carpenter Place Girls’ Home, World Vision, Docs for Hope, Pioneer Bible Translators, Dr. Checkbook, Rotary Foundation, several missionaries, and Pathway Church. It’s a joy to be a part of helping others through these organizations.
