With all the hype over the new Star Wars sequel, the Force Awakens, my family decided we needed to take the journey back into this world of light-sabers, black-masks, Jedi Knights, and Wookies. Who could resist the force, right? To prepare for this epic adventure, over the holidays, my daughters decided we needed to watch ALL the prior movies to prepare, while eating pecan pie and blue bell ice cream.

During this mind-numbing, nostalgic and waistline-increasing romp through galactic history I was reminded, the good guys always win in the end. It doesn’t matter who they’re up against; the Evil Empire, the Siths, the Clones. It always works out in the end.

Kind of reminds me of our economy and markets. While there are no guarantees, if you look back across the history of civilization and the U.S., despite periods of tremendous challenge, economic and market growth has always won out over the long-term. Whether war, tech bubbles, ebola or financial crises the world has always picked up and carried on… and the economy and markets have followed. Much like Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, Chewbacca and Princess Leia, the market forces win. Gotta love’em.

In 2016, May the Market Forces be with You. And go see The Force Awakens. I think the good guys may win again.
